Windows Explorer Concept

Funny...I've seen others work on and post "concept" work for various applications and operating systems, and always wondered why someone would go to all that work?  What was the benefit?  Just personal satisfaction?
Well...I understand a bit more.  After my last journal piece, regarding what I see as real flaws in some of the Windows "Modern UI" apps I've worked with, I decided I should either:
1.  Put up or shut up!
2.  Provide at least an example of what would be better
3.  Get some new ideas out there...maybe a miracle will happen and Microsoft will beg for my design.  HAH!

As you can see, still lot's of white, gray and one theme color, but tried to seperate and use the colors to divid the key areas (one of my big complaints with Modern UI apps...Different panes of info or lists all the same color with nothing dividing them, makes it very confusing)
Another of my Modern UI issues is that so many developers do use small graphics, like arrows...but color them just barely different than the background, making them difficult to see and easy to miss.  Here I've made any graphic, like the navigation arrows or the file tree open/close boxes...larger and darker.  Not black or something out of place, but clearly defined.
I love the Firefox/Opera menu button, thought it could work here, but with the menu first opening horizontally across the bar, then the individual menus opening down
Also love the floating, "tear away" menu's in Adobe CS, would be a nice option for power users
